Things to Do in May in Pigeon Forge
Sunshine, spring flowers and the Smoky Mountains…what are you waiting for? From music to food to outdoor fun, don’t miss out on all the fun events and things to do this May in Pigeon Forge.
Start the month out right with the Music in the Mountains Spring Parade. Cal Ripken, Jr. will be in town and lead off the parade beginning at 6 pm. The whole family will enjoy the giant cold air balloons, as well as the floats by area businesses and the local marching bands. Keeping with the celebration of the musical heritage of the Smokies, there will be free bluegrass concerts on May 4th at the Ole Smoky Moonshine stage at the Island and on the Fun Time Trolleys.

The Music in the Mountains Spring Parade as it marches down the Pigeon Forge Parkway.
For you music lovers, The Jars and Jams Concert Series, held at the Old Smoky Distillery stage at The Island in Pigeon Forge, will kick off on May 7th with a free concert by The Band Perry and Tonic on May 29th.

Another music concert to check out is Shenandoah and Exile, who will be at the Country Tonite Theatre on May 10th for two shows filled with your favorites from their lists of award-winning hits.
Wilderness Wildlife Week will be filled with educational workshops and guided Smoky Mountain hikes that are great for all ages. The workshops with be held at the LeConte Center and admission is free and open to the public. It is a great way to learn about plants and flowers in the park, the Appalachian history, fly fishing in the area, and so much more. The excursions offer up-close and personal tours of the Smoky Mountains. From early morning hikes to the midday hikes, you will experience nature at its best.

The second annual Sweets and Beats Festival will be held at The Island in Pigeon Forge. This dessert and music festival will raise money and awareness for the Robert F. Thomas Foundation. Local restaurants will bring their best sweet treats for sampling and guests will be voting for their favorite desserts. Listen to the sounds of some great local musicians while you enjoy the evening. Kids 12 and under are free.

Another car show that will be in town that same weekend is the Grand National F-100 Reunion. The show will be held at the LeConte Center and feature vendors, as well as a swap. Car enthusiasts will enjoy seeing Ford trucks 1979 and older cruise down the Parkway.

Dollywood’s Barbecue and Bluegrass Festival kicks off the unofficial start to summer. Does it get any better than great bluegrass music to please the ears and amazing pulled pork, ribs by the slab, and barbecue chicken to satisfy the appetite? And during your visit to Dollywood for the festival, check out Wildwood Grove, the newest addition to the park for 2019.
