Gatlinburg launches into the holiday season with the 43rd Annual Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade on Friday, December 7! Here are the five things you need to know about this year’s grand holiday celebration.
It’s Presented by Ole Red Gatlinburg
A typical Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade is always great, but a Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade presented by Ole Red Gatlinburg is even better. Set to debut in the spring of 2019, Blake Shelton’s Ole Red entertainment venue and restaurant will have a new home in Gatlinburg and we couldn’t be more excited. Be on the lookout for building’s exterior progress at traffic light #3 on the parade route.
It’s the Official Kickoff of Gatlinburg Winter Magic
Not only will the parade roll through downtown Gatlinburg in celebration of the holiday season, but it will also mark the official beginning of Gatlinburg Winter Magic. City officials will host a grand illumination ceremony of the Gatlinburg Christmas Tree, setting the stage for a mistletoe-ing and hearts all a-glowing holiday season in the ‘Burg.
BBQ Pitmasters Host Myron Mixon Will Be the Grand Marshal
Four-time world barbecue champion and star of the TV series BBQ Pitmasters, Myron Mixon, will act as Grand Marshal during this year’s procession. Known as the “Winningest Man in Barbeque,” Mixon is a New York Times author, television personality, entrepreneur and soon to be Gatlinburg’s forty-third Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade Grand Marshal!
Marching Bands From Across the U.S. Will Perform
The excitement begins at 7:30 p.m. from Baskins Creek Bypass with a spectacular parade line-up. A record-setting total of 11 grand marching bands will be a part of the festivities, along with an array of balloons and floats decorated by local businesses. Parade-goers are encouraged to arrive early to find a spot on the Parkway to watch the parade, which ends at traffic light #10.
